Excited to be back on my board!

I am so stoked to announce I had my first day on my snowboard over the Easter holidays. It’s been a long 3.5 months of work in the gym but I am glad to see its paying off as I am making a fast recovery. I got to go and cruise around the slopes of Geilo, Norway with family and friends! It’s on the mend and I can’t wait to start jumping again soon. Here are a few snaps of the family and me on my first day back on snow. :) Now I am back to the gym for 2 weeks, then it’s off to Austria stay tuned!

I am just back to Holland for some rehab on my knee, it’s going really well and I am excited about my progress and getting back on snow as soon as possible. I have been spending a lot of time in the gym and I am now walking around without my crutches and working on my strength.

At the start of the week I headed over to Munich, for Ispo. It was a great chance to catch up with all of my sponsors see some friends who stopped off at Ispo before the next contest, do a few interviews and some signings and take a few days off my rehab! I had a signing with Vans and we celebrated 20 years of Vans boots, was really cool to see the Vans crew, I checked in at Nitro and talked about my new board, Volcom had a huge mini ramp in the centre! The Celtek stand was rad so many sick gloves, check out my new model up top! Really cool to see my signature models out there!

In other news I am really excited to announce about a new sponsor, I had a breakfast meeting with Planet Sports, they are stepping in with some great support and I am excited to work further with them on my filming projects and future endeavors leading into the Olympics! They also have a great team of riders so I am stoked to be on board with such a positive store!

Hope your all having a fun season, make sure you do a pow turn for me, it’s dumping in Europe!

I am currently back in Holland after just having to undergo ACL surgery, not the most pleasant experience of my life, but it’s done and I am feeling good about it. I am really happy that we managed to get the surgery done straight away after finding out last miniute the day before I was due to fly home that my ACL was gone.

Last week at the first day of Dew Tour training I managed to come up super short on the second jump, the conditions were not the best however I was stoked with the course and enjoying my riding so just started progressing through the course. At first, I had all the tests for my knees and nothing came up with the physical tests, so the diagnosis 2 badly bruised heels. So I started out hobbling around on crutches for 4 days, the pain in my knees didn’t go. A huge thanks to the National team, they have been super supportive and got me sorted with an MRI, flying home and then straight in for a succesful operation. Good news is I got an upgrade on the way back with good friend Gary Greenshields shame that I have to hurt myself to fly business!

Now it’s mission recovery and I am feeling really positive about nailing it and getting back to snow for New Zealand, stay tuned as I am going to update you on my progress and a filming project I have up my sleeve.

I have been out in the USA for 10 days now and having a blast staying with the Dutch team in Frisco, we have been riding up at Keystone, they have a pretty good set up for this time of the year, they have a kicker line up and a really fun rail line. It’s crazy how many people have descended on Colorado, every national team is here as well as all of the US locals, so it’s been a busy time.

Here are a few pics from what has gone down so far, hot laps at Ketstone, the crew, Sushi dinners and next up I am looking forward to heading over to Breckenridge after the weekend to check in for the Winter Dew Tour.

Just got first place at the Europa Cup in Landgraaf.

Today the Europa cup went down in Landgraaf, there was a strong field of 15+ girls at the event in my home country. Check out some of my runs here, front 3 on the kicker into back 7 tail. They had a sweet rail set up too.

I made it to Mayrhofen after a 2 day mission, 15 hours from Biarritz! It was a pretty mellow drive as I stopped over night, and for once I stuck to the speed limits!

It dumped up in Hintertux, so the first day I spent riding pow with some friends, it’s crazy how it turned to winter over here. Just now I made the trip over to Dachstein for the Pleasure Jam with Aimee Fuller, we had the tunes blasting and some good karaoke went down. Looking forward to checking out the set up tomorrow.

I am just back from Hintertux, I had a blast over there, riding with some of the Dutchies, a few of the British crew Aimee and Ben, Possum and Spencer were also in town.

The rad thing about Hintertux this time of year is the climate, you come down from the hill and it’s still warm, so we got involved in some trampoline sessions, they went off! Also big football games, volley ball and basketball. We being Dutch obviously kicked the English at football! haha.

It was sick to get back out in the mountains, I also got a new trick down so I am stoked on that! The park was pretty sick out there, we had a little bad weather but apart from that it was on form.

On my way home to the airport I gave the autobahn and my rental car a good testing, to bad the car was blocked and 200km was the max! Next stop for me is home for a little bit and then head back over to TUX before the Oneill Pleasure Jam!

Pretty excited about this, myself and Dutch snowboarder Dimi De Jong partnered up with the large Dutch supermarket C1000 to make our own pro model extreme GoGo doll! GoGo make 8 different pro models, 2 snowboarders, myself and Dimi! 1 surfer, 2 dancers, 2 skateboarders and 1 BMX dude. Every time you spend 10 Euro’s in store you receive one free GoGo!

Last month we all teamed up and went to several different C1000 stores around the country for demo day’s, it was insane the turn out and people were stoked on the dolls, we had signing’s, from posters to caps, shoes and even the kid’s hands! It was a cool experience and fun to meet the rest of the athletes.

I am back on the road again out in Austria after a few weeks off for a little summer action! I headed down to NZ in August with the Dutch team to get some summer riding in under my feet. I had a great trip down there with the team riding up at Snowpark NZ, cruising the jib line and the kicker set up down there was on point. The cool thing about NZ is that there is a ton of random off hill activities you can get involved with, golf, heli flying, rally driving, we had a pretty epic session of paintball with the boys and that ended up in some pretty hard core bruises as you can imagine.

I am now out in Hintertux, there is a nice crew of people down here, just looking for the weather to clear up and we can get some fun riding in. More pics soon!

I am back home after a really fun couple of weeks on the road!

It started out with a pretty long journey… a 29 hour drive to Avoriaz! I went there to judge the PBRJ champs, the weather over there was epic and so was the set up. I was lucky enough to get in a little riding and had a fun session myself. After the contest there was a party, a fun night! I took it mellow as the next day, back on the road!

I headed to LAAX for the Dutch National Championships, also known as the Snowfest. It was cool to catch up with some Dutch friends that I’d not seen in ages! I was on a little mission over there to collect a few FIS points so I can start the qualification next season.

Slopestyle went down, and I put down a run to put me in the top spot, Dutch slope Champ! so we had a night out for a little celebration! Next day back in the car to Biarritz. It’s been good to be back home and back in the water, got in a nice surf the other day with Gary Greenshields, summer is on it’s way!

Last week I spent in Mayrhofen for the Vans Wangle Tangle. I had a blast catching up with friends and the Vans crew. It was so hot over there! T-shit shred all round, first day though powder turns! rest of the week was blue bird skies and park laps.

So I cruised over to Tignes, a 10 hour drive through the night from Mayrhofen, quite the mission but we shared the drive so it wasn’t too bad! Road trip with some of the British guys.

My family was out to X games so it was great to have them all out for the support, my Mum came in too to look after Lara so it was fun to have that little bit of home with me during the week.

During X games I filmed some for NOS a TV station back home in Holland.

Finals went down on Friday, the weather was epic, literally blue bird all week, doesn’t get much better!

I was happy to land a run, I had little training due to my previous injuries, bruised heel from the World champs and I finished up in the 8th spot in a pretty heavy field.

Right now I am back in Mayrhofen after flying home for 2 days, the Wangle Tangle is going on this week and I am out here with Vans team mate Charlotte Van Gils, should be a fun week in the park with the Vans crew, check back!

I have been out of action for 2 weeks, because of a bruised heel, I did a back 5 over the channel at the World champs and gave it a bit of a knock.

Right now I am back out to the mountains, I am in Mayrhofen, Austria for a few days before I head over to European X games in Tignes. Just thought I would share a few pictures here, my promodel, board, gloves, boots and goggles, with Nitro, Celtek, Vans and Electric, really stoked on all of this gear!

Yesterday the semi-finals for the World Champs went down, I was in heat 2, it was a heavy field of riders and I qualified in 2nd!I landed my first run so I had my last 2 runs to experiment with the course. Excited to ride the finals tomorrow, the level of riding is really progressive so it’s going to be exciting to watch.

Interview

So yesterday the qualis went down in some tough conditions! I got through in 2nd place to the semi finals after a run of back 3, back 3 and back 7! Today is practice and then tomorrow semi-finals is going down. Stoked to make it through to the semis, with a stacked field of riders in those conditions.
